Hazardous-Location Manual Motor Starters
Hazardous-location manual motor starters are manually operated motor controllers that provide control of electrical connections in environments where the possibility of flammable gases, vapours, or liquids, ignitable fibres or flyings, or combustible dust may exist under normal and abnormal conditions. They have location ratings that classify their designated operating environment and must be mated with compatible, hazardous-location devices to comply with safety standards. Manual motor starters turn circuits on and off to small motors, machinery, and electrical systems and help protect them from damage caused by overheating, low voltage, and overcurrent. These manually operated motor starters combine contactors, overload relays, and disconnect switches to connect and disconnect electrical loads safely.
